Your files never leave your deviceAbout this tool
Turn images into the format you need: JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. Mix formats in one batch and see what each format means before you convert.
How it works
-
Step 1:Add your files
Drop them in, choose them from your device or paste from the clipboard. Mix formats freely: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP all work.
-
Step 2:Pick a format
Each format says what it’s good for. Anything you should know, like transparency turning white in a JPG, shows up before you convert.
-
Step 3:Convert and download
Press Convert and every file is made on your device. Save them one by one or all at once as a .zip. They stay in your workspace, so you can compress them next.

Questions, answered
What can I convert?
Images, for now: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP files become JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. More kinds of files are on the way, one format family at a time, starting with HEIC photos from iPhones.
Which format should I choose?
WebP is the best all-rounder for websites. AVIF makes the smallest files but takes a little longer to create. JPG opens absolutely everywhere, and PNG is the one to pick when every pixel must stay exactly the same.
Do my files leave my device?
No. ToolHero converts your files right in your browser, on your own device. They’re never sent to a server, so they stay private, and big batches don’t wait on your internet connection.
Can I convert a batch of mixed formats?
Yes. Add as many files as you like, in any mix of formats, and they all come out in the format you pick. The Converter only offers formats every file can be turned into.
Will converting lose quality?
Converting to PNG never loses quality. JPG, WebP and AVIF are lossy, but at the default quality of 75% the difference is very hard to see. Raise the quality before you press Convert if you want more detail.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
PNG, WebP and AVIF keep transparency. JPG doesn’t support it, so transparent areas become white. The Converter tells you before you press Convert, and marks each image it applies to.
Can I change my mind after converting?
Yes. Pick another format and press Apply changes: each file is made again from its original, so converting twice never costs quality. Remove the format from a file to get the original back, or press ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z) to undo.
Are animated GIFs supported?
GIFs are converted as still images for now, using the first frame. Animation support is on our list.
