About ToolHero
Free, private file tools that run on your device. Here’s who makes them, how they keep your files with you and how to reach us.
At a glance
What ToolHero is
ToolHero is a set of everyday file tools that works like an app in your browser. Today it converts, compresses, resizes, crops, rotates and flips images, one at a time or a whole batch at once. Your files stay in one workspace while you move between tools, so you can convert a photo, shrink it and crop it without adding it again.
More tools join one at a time, and each one gets the same calm layout, so you never have to learn a new screen.
How your files stay on your device
When you open a tool, your browser downloads its code from toolhero.dev, including the image encoders, compiled to WebAssembly. When you add a file, your browser opens it and runs that code on your own device, in background workers so the page stays responsive. Results are made in your browser’s memory and saved with its normal download.
Your files are never sent to our server or to anyone else, so we never see them, store them or have access to them. You can check this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, watch the network panel while a tool works, and you’ll see that no request carries your file. When you close the tab, everything you added is gone.
The details of what our server does see, like any website’s, are on the privacy page.
Who runs ToolHero
ToolHero is made and run by Semantic Bridge LLC, a company registered in the United States. The website is free and stays free, with no ads. A desktop app for Mac and Windows is on the way for bigger jobs, like whole folders of photos, built from the same tools.
