About Audio & Video
Audio and video tools that run on your device
These are the audio and video tools. Turn music, recordings and videos into MP3, turn MKV, MOV and WebM videos into MP4, cut a song or a voice note to the part you want, or make a short GIF from a clip. Every tool runs in your browser, so your recordings and videos never leave your device.
Which tool for which file
If you have sound and need an MP3, use the MP3 Converter. It takes music, voice memos and recordings, and it also takes a video and keeps only its sound. If you have a video that will not play where you need it, Video to MP4 turns MKV, MOV and WebM files into MP4, the format almost every phone, TV and website accepts.
If a file is too long, Trim Audio cuts it to the part you want, with a waveform to cut on. If you want a moving picture for a chat or a page, Video to GIF turns part of a video into a GIF, and can turn a GIF back into an MP4, which is far smaller.
Big recordings and long videos
Sound and video files are large, so these tools read them in pieces rather than holding a whole file in memory, and they write the result to your browser’s private storage as they go. A long recording or a film does not have to fit in memory at once. If your browser cannot take a particular file, the page says so.
Each of these tools starts when you press its button, not when you add a file, so you can look at what a setting does before you commit to a long job.
Recordings stay with you
A voice memo, an interview or a family video is not something to send to a server. Here the files are read, changed and saved on your own device, and no file is sent anywhere. Pictures from the places you filmed and the voices you recorded stay where they are.

Questions, answered
Where do I add my sound or video file?
Choose a tool first and add the file on its page. Each tool reads the kinds of file it works with, and tells you at once when a file is not one of them.
Which tool turns a video into sound?
The MP3 Converter. Add the video, and it saves the sound track as an MP3. The video itself is left as it was.
Is a long video too much for a browser?
Usually not. Files are read in pieces, so length is rarely the limit. If your browser cannot take a particular file, the page says so.
Can I use more than one tool on a recording?
Yes, one after the other. Cut a long recording to the part you want with Trim Audio, save it, then add the saved file to the MP3 Converter if you need it as an MP3.
