About this tool

Trim edges or crop to a perfect aspect ratio.

How it works

  1. Step 1:Add your images

Drop them in, choose them from your device or paste from the clipboard. They open right here, on your device.

  2. Step 2:Frame the shot

Drag the corners or edges, or pick a shape like 1:1 or 16:9. Move the frame to keep what matters. Arrow keys nudge it, Shift resizes.

  3. Step 3:Crop and download

Press Crop, then save one image or all of them as a .zip. Your images stay in the workspace, so you can compress or convert them next.

Questions, answered

Do my images leave my device?

No. ToolHero crops your images right in your browser, on your own device. They’re never sent to a server, so they stay private.

Can I crop several images at once?

Yes. Pick a shape such as 1:1 or 16:9, choose All images under Apply to, and press Crop. Each image gets the largest area of that shape from its centre. Images you framed yourself keep your frame, so you can fine-tune any of them before or after.

Which aspect ratio should I use?

1:1 for profile pictures and square posts, 4:5 for portrait posts, 9:16 for stories and short videos, 16:9 for thumbnails, slides and widescreen, 3:2 and 4:3 for classic photo prints. Free lets you crop any shape.

Does cropping reduce the quality?

Cropping keeps every pixel inside the frame exactly as it was. The image is saved once, from the original, at a high quality, so there’s no visible loss. If you also compress or convert it, everything happens in that same single save.

Can I change or undo a crop?

Yes. Your original is always kept. Move the frame and press Apply changes, remove the crop step from the image, or press ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z) to undo.

Which formats can I crop?

JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF keep their format. GIF and BMP files are saved as PNG. HEIC photos from iPhones are coming soon.
