Questions, answered
Will converting WebP to JPG reduce quality?
A little, as with any re-save. WebP and JPG both use lossy compression, so converting removes some fine detail. At the default quality it’s very hard to spot, and you can raise the quality for a near-identical result.
Will the JPG be smaller than the WebP?
Usually not: JPG’s compression is less efficient than WebP’s, so expect a larger file. You’ll see the exact size of every file before you download it, and you can lower the quality or resize to bring it down.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
JPG doesn’t support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. If you need to keep a transparent background, convert to PNG, WebP or AVIF instead.
Are animated WebPs supported?
Not yet. For animated WebP files, ToolHero converts the first frame into a still JPG. Animation support is on our list.
Can I convert lots of WebP files at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like: they’re converted side by side on your device, and you can download them one by one or all together as a .zip.
Do my images leave my device?
