Your files never leave your deviceAbout this tool
Change image dimensions by pixels or percentage.
How it works
-
Step 1:Add your images
Drop them in, choose them from your device or paste from the clipboard. Resize one image or a whole folder of them.
-
Step 2:Pick a size
Scale by a percentage, fit inside a box such as 1920 pixels, or set an exact width and height. Every image shows its new size before you press Resize.
-
Step 3:Download
Save images one by one, or all at once as a .zip. Your files stay in the workspace, so you can compress, convert or crop them next.
Questions, answered
Do my images leave my device?
No. ToolHero resizes your images right in your browser, on your own device. They’re never sent to a server, so they stay private, and big batches don’t wait on your internet connection.
What’s the difference between Percent, Fit and Exact?
Percent scales every image by the same amount, so 50% halves the width and the height.
Fit shrinks images until they fit inside a box, keeping their proportions. A landscape and a portrait photo both end up with a longest side of 1920 pixels, for example. Images that already fit stay as they are, unless you allow enlarging.
Exact makes images precisely the width and height you enter. Lock the ratio to keep an image’s proportions.
Which size should I pick?
For websites and email, a longest side of 1920 or 1280 pixels looks sharp on most screens. 1080 pixels suits social media. 3840 pixels keeps photos crisp on 4K displays and in prints up to about A4.
Will resizing make my image blurry?
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp: we use high-quality Lanczos resampling, the same kind photo editors use. Making it larger can’t add detail that isn’t there, so enlarged images look softer.
Can I resize many images at once?
Yes. With nothing selected, Resize applies to every image in your workspace. Select a few first to resize only those. Fit is the best choice for a mix of landscape and portrait photos, because each one keeps its own shape.
Why does an image look stretched?
An exact width and height with a different shape from the image squashes or stretches it. Lock the ratio, or use Fit, to keep its proportions. We point out images that would be stretched before you apply.
Can I change the size after resizing?
Yes. Pick another size and press Apply changes: each image is made again from its original, so quality never drops from resizing twice. Remove the Resize step from an image to get its original size back, or press ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z) to undo.
Which formats can I resize?
JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF keep their format. GIF and BMP files work too and are saved as PNG. HEIC photos from iPhones are coming soon.
