About PDF
PDF tools that run on your device
These are the PDF tools. Put several files together, take pages out, turn or reorder them, make a file smaller, add a signature, page numbers or a watermark, black out private text, open a locked file, or save pages as pictures or text. Everything runs in your browser, so your PDFs stay on your device.
Which PDF tool for which job
Most PDF jobs are one of a few kinds. To change what is in the file, use Organize PDF to reorder, remove, turn or add pages, Split PDF to save pages or ranges as separate files, Merge PDF to join several files into one, Rotate PDF to turn pages upright, and Crop PDF to cut away margins. To turn pictures into a PDF, use Images to PDF.
To finish a document, Sign PDF places a drawn, typed or picture signature, Add page numbers and Add watermark mark every page, and Flatten PDF bakes form fields and comments into the pages. Redact PDF blacks out text and areas for good, which is different from drawing a black box over them. Compress PDF makes a file smaller, or fits it under a size limit.
To get things out of a PDF, PDF to Image saves each page as a JPG or PNG, Extract Images from PDF saves the pictures inside it, and PDF to Text copies all the text out. If a file will not open, Repair PDF tries to recover its pages, and Unlock PDF removes the password from a file you have the right to open.
Working on a file in more than one step
A PDF often needs two or three things done to it: pages removed, the rest turned, the result made smaller. The PDFs you add stay in your workspace as you move from one tool to the next, so you add the file once. Each tool saves a new copy and leaves your original as it was.
When one tool does what you need, use that one. The tools are small on purpose, so each is quick to learn and each shows what it will do before it does it.
Documents stay with you
Contracts, forms and statements are the files people least want to hand to a stranger’s server. These tools open and change the PDF inside your browser, and no file is sent anywhere. Nothing is kept once you close the tab.

Questions, answered
Which PDF tool should I use first?
Start with the change to the pages: Organize PDF if you need to reorder or remove them, Merge PDF to join files, Split PDF to cut one apart. Do the finishing steps, such as a signature, page numbers or compression, last.
Can I do several things to one PDF?
Yes. Add the file once and open one tool after another. Each tool works on the file as it is now, and saves a new copy, so you can rotate pages, then sign, then compress.
Does saving change my original PDF?
No. Every tool saves a new file and leaves the one you added as it was, so you can always go back to it.
What if a PDF will not open?
A file with a password asks for it. A file that is damaged can go through Repair PDF, which recovers the pages it can read into a clean file. A PDF with limits on editing can go through Unlock PDF when you have the right to open it.
