About this tool

Why convert JPG to PNG?

  • What you gain

PNG is lossless, so later edits and re-saves keep the picture exactly as it is. That makes it a good working copy for editing, and some apps and print workflows simply ask for PNG.
  • Good to know

A PNG of a photo is usually 3–5 times larger than the JPG, and converting can’t bring back detail the JPG already lost. The background stays solid: PNG supports transparency, but converting doesn’t create it.

How it works

  1. Step 1:Add your JPG images

Drop them in, choose them from your device or paste from the clipboard. Add as many as you like: images in other formats convert too.

  2. Step 2:Convert to PNG

PNG is already picked for you. Press Convert and each image becomes a PNG on your device, pixel for pixel.

  3. Step 3:Download

Save images one by one, or all at once as a .zip.

Questions, answered

Will converting JPG to PNG reduce quality?

No. PNG is lossless, so the converted file keeps every pixel of your JPG exactly. It can’t restore detail that was lost when the JPG was first saved, though.

Will the PNG be smaller than the JPG?

Usually not: PNG is lossless and keeps every pixel, so expect a larger file. You’ll see the exact size of every file before you download it, and you can lower the quality or resize to bring it down.

Can I convert lots of JPG files at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like: they’re converted side by side on your device, and you can download them one by one or all together as a .zip.

Do my images leave my device?

No. The JPG to PNG conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your images are never sent anywhere. There’s no sign-up and no limit on how many you convert.
