Questions, answered
Will converting AVIF to PNG reduce quality?
No. PNG is lossless, so the converted file keeps every pixel of your AVIF exactly.
Will the PNG be smaller than the AVIF?
Usually not: PNG is lossless and keeps every pixel, so expect a larger file. You’ll see the exact size of every file before you download it, and you can lower the quality or resize to bring it down.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
They stay transparent. PNG supports transparency with smooth edges, so logos, icons and cut-outs convert cleanly.
Are animated AVIFs supported?
Not yet. For animated AVIF files, ToolHero converts the first frame into a still PNG. Animation support is on our list.
Can I convert lots of AVIF files at once?

Do my images leave my device?
