About this tool

Rotate PDF pages and save them that way

This tool turns the pages of a PDF in your browser and saves the PDF with them turned. Turn every page at once, or pick the sideways ones and turn only those, 90° either way or 180°. Pages aren’t redrawn, so text stays sharp and selectable. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Turn every page, or only some

With no page picked, Rotate left and Rotate right turn every page. Pick pages on the preview first, and only those turn: a scan with one sideways page needs a single click on it, then Rotate right. Each page also has its own pair of buttons under it.

The preview turns as you click, and a dashed outline marks every page whose new turn isn’t saved yet. Nothing changes in the file until you press Rotate.

Several PDFs can be turned at once: with nothing picked, each one’s pages turn together. Each PDF saves as a copy named after it, like report-rotated.pdf.

Saved in the file, not only on your screen

The rotate button in many PDF viewers only turns the page while you look at it, so the file opens sideways again elsewhere. Here the turn is written into each page of the PDF, so it opens the right way up in every app, on every device, and when it’s printed.

A turn adds to how each page already shows, so what you see on the preview is what you get, even in a PDF whose pages were stored on their side.

Nothing is redrawn

Rotating sets each page’s orientation; what is on the page stays exactly as it was. Text stays text you can select and search, and photos and anything else already compressed are kept byte for byte. Page content a PDF stores uncompressed is compressed as it is saved, so such a file even gets smaller: our two-page test PDF of small type and 1,200 coloured squares is 55.5 KB, and 7 KB with both pages turned.

Everything else in the PDF is kept: bookmarks, links, fillable form fields and its title and author. A digital signature no longer checks out afterwards, as after any change to a signed file.

A PDF protected with a password can’t be opened here yet, and one whose owner doesn’t allow changing its pages says so; the others rotate as usual.

Tested with PDFium via @embedpdf/pdfium 2.15.1 on a Mac18,5 (Apple M6) on macOS 27.0.1, 2026-10-16. The output was byte-identical in Chromium, Firefox and WebKit.

How it works

  1. Step 1:Add your PDFs

Drop them in or choose them from your device. The first one shows its pages.

  2. Step 2:Turn the pages

Rotate every page, or pick the sideways ones and turn only those. The preview shows each turn at once.

  3. Step 3:Press Rotate, then save

You get a copy of each PDF with its pages turned. Save one file, or all of them as a .zip.

Questions, answered

How do I rotate just one page of a PDF?

Click or tap that page on the preview to pick it, then press Rotate right or Rotate left; or use the turn buttons under the page. Only that page turns, and pressing Rotate saves the PDF with it the right way up.

Why does my PDF open sideways again after rotating it in my viewer?

Many viewers only turn the page on screen and don’t save it. Rotating here writes the turn into the PDF itself, so it opens the right way up everywhere.

Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?

No. Only each page’s orientation changes; text, drawings and photos are not redrawn or compressed again, and text stays selectable.

Can I rotate a scanned PDF?

Yes. A scanned page is a picture inside the PDF, and it turns with its page like anything else, at its full original quality.

Do bookmarks and form fields still work after rotating?

Yes. The rest of the PDF is kept as it was: bookmarks, links, fillable form fields and its title. Only a digital signature stops checking out, as after any change to a signed PDF.

Is my PDF sent anywhere when I rotate it?

No. The PDF is opened and saved by an engine running in your browser, so it never leaves your device and there’s nothing to sign in to.
