About this tool

Add a watermark to a PDF and save it

This tool watermarks a PDF in your browser and saves a copy. Type some text or choose a logo, set how faint it is, turn it, and put it in the middle, in a corner or across the page. The preview shows it on every page before you save. Nothing is sent anywhere.

How faint, how turned, and where

Opacity runs from nearly invisible to solid, and 30% is a good start for text across a page. Turn the watermark with the slider: 45° is the usual diagonal, 0° keeps it straight.

Put it in the middle, in a corner or along an edge, or tile it so it repeats across the whole page in staggered rows, the way a “CONFIDENTIAL” stamp covers a contract. Pages are drawn as you see them, so rotated and cropped pages get the watermark in the right place.

Choose whether it goes over the page’s own content or under it. Under keeps text and pictures in front, but a white box or a picture that covers the page hides the watermark where it lies.

Every page, or only some

Leave Pages empty to watermark every page, or type the ones you want, such as 1-3, 5. Pages a PDF doesn’t have are left out, so one setting serves several PDFs.

Each PDF saves as a copy named after it, like report-watermarked.pdf, and your original is untouched. Everything already in the PDF stays: text you can select, photos, links, form fields and bookmarks. A digital signature no longer checks out afterwards, as after any change to a signed file.

A PDF protected with a password asks for it on the file before it opens, and the watermarked copy has no password. One whose owner doesn’t allow changes says so: Unlock PDF takes that off first, and the others are watermarked as usual.

How it works

  1. Step 1:Add your PDFs

Drop them in or choose them from your device. The first one shows its pages.

  2. Step 2:Set the watermark

Type text or choose a logo, then set the opacity, turn and place. The preview shows it on each page.

  3. Step 3:Press Watermark, then save

You get a copy of each PDF with the watermark on its pages. Save one file, or all of them as a .zip.

Questions, answered

How do I add a watermark to a PDF?

Add the PDF, type the watermark’s text or choose a logo, set how faint it is and where it goes, and press Watermark. Check it on the preview first. The copy saves as a new PDF, and your original is untouched.

How do I put a diagonal watermark across every page?

Keep the position in the middle and turn the watermark to 45°. Set the opacity around 30% so the page stays easy to read. Choosing Tiled repeats it across the whole page instead.

Can I use my logo as a watermark?

Yes. Choose a PNG, JPG or WebP picture and set its width as a share of the page. A PNG keeps its transparency, and the opacity setting makes any picture fainter.

Can the watermark go behind the text of the page?

Yes. Under the page puts it behind the content, so text stays in front. A white box or a picture that covers part of a page hides the watermark there; Over the page always shows it.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Type the pages in the Pages field, such as 1-3, 5, and only those get the watermark. Leave it empty for every page.

Does a watermark change the rest of my PDF?

No. Text, photos, drawings, links, form fields and bookmarks stay as they were, and watermark text is real text you can select and search. Only a digital signature stops checking out, as after any change.

Is my PDF or my logo sent anywhere?

No. The PDF and the picture are opened and saved by an engine running in your browser, so they never leave your device and there’s nothing to sign in to.
