About this tool

Take pages out of a PDF

This tool takes pages out of a PDF in your browser. Click the pages you don’t want, or type their numbers such as 2, 5-7, then press Remove. You get a new PDF without them, and the original stays as it was. Pages you keep aren’t redrawn, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Pick the pages, then remove them

The PDF opens as thumbnails with the tool already set to Remove. Click each page you don’t want; a red Remove tag marks it, and Shift-click picks a whole run. A cover sheet, a blank page after a scan, a signature page you don’t want to share: pick them, and the button counts them for you, like Remove 3 pages.

You know the page numbers already? Type them into Pick by number, such as 2, 5-7, and the same pages light up. Nothing changes in the file until you press Remove.

The status line says how many pages the new PDF will have before you press anything, and it won’t let you remove every page.

The pages you remove take their weight with them

A removed page is left out of the new file with everything only it used: its pictures, its fonts, its drawings. Our two-page test PDF is 55.5 KB because its pages are stored uncompressed; the same PDF without page 1 is 6.3 KB. Our four-page test PDF is 2.9 KB, and 1.5 KB without its second page.

Pages that stay are not redrawn, so text stays sharp and selectable, and the title, author, bookmarks to the pages you kept, links between them and fillable fields all stay. A bookmark that led to a page you removed is dropped with it.

And while you are there

This is Organize PDF with its button set to Remove, so you can also drag the pages that remain into a new order, turn a sideways page, or add a blank page before you save. Switch the choice at the top of the settings to Organize to save everything as arranged, or to Extract to keep only the picked pages instead.

Questions, answered

How do I remove a page from a PDF?

Add the PDF, click the page you want gone so it is picked, and press Remove 1 page. The new PDF has every other page, and you can save it straight away.

How do I remove several pages at once?

Click each one, Shift-click to pick a run of pages, or type their numbers in Pick by number, like 2, 5-7. The button counts the picked pages, and one press removes them all.

Can I get a removed page back?

Your original file is never changed, so the pages are still in it. Before you save, Undo steps back through your changes, and after saving you can start again from the original.

Will removing pages make my PDF smaller?

Yes, when the pages you remove carry pictures or fonts nothing else uses. They are left out of the new file with the page. A PDF of text pages only shrinks a little, in proportion to the text removed.

Is it safe to remove pages from a confidential PDF here?

Yes. The PDF is opened and rewritten by an engine running in your browser, so it never leaves your device, and there is no account to create.
